Key appointment at World Trade Centre Hull and Humber

Andy Mowbray, former business development manager for Hull Forward, has been appointed to manage World Trade Centre Hull and Humber.

Mr Mowbray, 35, will be responsible for coordinating the centre’s services and facilities, fostering international links through the world trade centre network and ensuring that the regional business community is able to exploit the opportunities presented by the centre.

Due to open in May, it is one of only two operational world trade centres in the UK and part of a 309-strong global network formed with the purpose of enhancing global trade.

Mr Mowbray said: “This new and exciting facility will become a hub for international trade and provides a great opportunity to build on the region’s strengths.

“I will be building links with other world trade centres that have synergies with existing key sectors in Hull including food and chemicals, and the region’s key growth areas of ports and value added logistics, healthcare and biomedical technologies, and renewable energy.”

In his role with Hull Forward (formerly Hull Citybuild), Mr Mowbray became well known in the local business community for heading the successful Bondholder scheme, leading to an increase in its membership of more than 100 per cent in the last year.

Hull-born Mr Mowbray was educated at Bricknell Primary School and Kelvin Hall, before completing a degree at the University of Leeds in Business Management and Strategy.

He then worked as an account director at leading London advertising agencies including Publicis, before returning to Hull to work in consumer marketing for Kingston Communications.

He joined Hull Citybuild in 2004 and continued developing his career with the organisation, which became part of Hull Forward on April 2.
