North American trade openings are finer from Carolina

An American trade expert is seeking exciting new contacts in the Humber region.

South Carolina businessman Anthony Russo, president of North Charleston-based Trade-Hub International, is visiting World Trade Centre Hull & Humber on March 16 as part of its USA and Canada event that aims to assist regional businesses interested in selling their products or services into the North American market.

Mr Russo wants to meet companies that have niche or innovative products with export potential in the food and agricultural sectors. He also wants to identify UK chemicals products that could be added to his current portfolio, or that could compete financially with those available to through his network in Asia.

“I am hoping that my visit to the Humber will be fruitful and that I will come away with some exciting new contacts and products to market,” he said. “The Humber is very active in the key sectors that I work in, so the potential for strategic alliances is very high.”

Mr Russo, who previously worked at the World Trade Centre in South Carolina, represents clients in North and South America, Asia, the Middle East and Europe through his network of partners and contacts, with the aim of eliminating agents and brokers, where possible.

“US agricultural products have an excellent worldwide reputation, but the UK has an equally high standing and benefits from being able to offer cheaper shipping costs to markets such as North Africa and the Middle East where I have active buyers.

“The premise of Trade-Hub International is to create a worldwide, mutually beneficial and supportive network for the enhancement of trade.”

In addition to sourcing new products during his visit, Mr Russo is also looking for distributors and warehousing services and facilities.

He will be joined at the World Trade Centre event by Canadian businessman, Geoff Green, of Pegasus Global Initiatives, who also wants to help UK companies develop markets in North America.

The USA and Canada event commences at 9.30am and finishes at 1pm, with one-to- one meetings with Mr Russo or Mr Green scheduled for the afternoon.

Other speakers include Sean Gilligan, director of the British American Business Council. A question and answer session will be followed by a networking lunch with advisers from UK Trade and Investment at hand.
