Wind set fair for Team Humber trade mission to Denmark
Members of Team Humber Marine Alliance are on the lookout for renewables business with one of the world’s leading wind energy countries.
With Enterprise Europe Yorkshire, THMA is launching a trade mission this month to Denmark, which pioneered the development of commercial wind power in the 1970s.
Representing more than 80 Humber region firms, THMA will promote its collective capability to support the operation and maintenance of onshore and offshore wind farms.
Tim Barraclough, an Enterprise Europe Yorkshire consultant, believes Alliance members can be successful.
“Our companies are in a strong position to support current and future developments taking place off our coast,” he said. “Matching this up with the Danes’ knowledge and experience will provide strong partnerships.”
Sam Pick, sector champion for renewables at Hull-based THMA, said the mission would be an important opportunity to start showcasing to the Danes the abilities of the Humber’s marine and renewables companies.
Kurt Christensen, managing director of THMA member Wind Power Support in Grimsby, is also joining the trade mission to Billund, in Jutland, on February 22 when meetings will be held with representatives of the Danish Wind Energy Group and Danish renewable energy companies.
Caroline Woollen, of Hull company CDS (Oil and Gas Services) Ltd, which is supporting the mission, said: “We are enthusiastic at the opportunity of working with our Danish counterparts, and utilising our professional attributes to obtain maximum results in bringing new business to the Humber region.”
THMA was formed 15 years ago and has doubled its membership of marine and related engineering firms in the last six months.
