Opportunities in the Baltics States

On 2 October 2009 around 50 delegates joined experts at World Trade Centre Hull & Humber to find out about the business opportunities in The Baltic States.

• Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have enjoyed economic growth 3-4 times faster than the European average in recent years.
• Since 2004 all three countries are members of NATO and the European Union, which has brought stability and furthermore transparency and sustainable economic development to the region.
• The Baltic States are good markets for SMEs and companies new to export as they are relatively easy to do business in, English is widely spoken and they have a western business culture.
• The increasing purchasing power of over 7 million people and good connections make it an attractive export market.

Opportunities exist in particular for companies in construction, energy, environmental, education and training, tourism, IT and communications and a range of manufacturing sectors.

Experienced Commercial Officers from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania visited the Hull & Humber region to meet UK companies interested in exporting to the Baltics. Local companies shared their experience of entering the Baltics market. Then experts were on hand with free, impartial advice to help you companies started.
